Part I

Back in January, my client, Mr. B, entrusted me w/ a very big & important task.

TOP SECRET Mission: find out the ring size & the type of engagement ring his girlfriend, Ms. Y, liked without raising suspicion. But, there was a catch...he already had the ring! My assignment included making sure she loved the type of ring already purchased.

Yes, folks we do it all-secret missions included.

Ur Personal style sleuth for hire

(trench coat & magnifying glass excluded, too obvious, of course)

The Brilliant Plan:

§ lunch near the jewelers where my wedding band was purchased

§ carefully devised girl talk of engagement rings

§ convince her to join me in running an “errand” to get my ring cleaned

The Ruse:

I had studied the pic of the ring Mr.B sent me. From my investigation I discovered the jeweler’s had a similar one. She was right where I wanted her, like a magnet Ms. Y was drawn to the engagement ring section. Success! The talk had worked! The trick was to ensure she tried on the ring similar to the one in Mr. B’s possession & gauge her reaction.

Case Closed:

She adored the ring and we left the store: a girlfriend dreaming of her future & a very satisfied stylist.

P.S. I held on to this secret for 7 long months...
